How to Achieve Optimal Performance
Exercise pushes bones, joints, muscles, heart, and lungs to
the limit. Even light or moderate
intensity stresses these systems, often resulting injuries that can reduce your
capacity and performance. There are ways
to avoid injuries and maintain optimum performance.
All functions of the body are controlled by the brain
through the spinal cord and nerves. The
brain and spinal cord are protected by bone.
The spine has 24 movable segments that can become misaligned and damage
the cord and nerves. The resulting
pressure ingerferes with the function of the nervous system and reduces
performance. This leads to decreased
focus, concentration, energy, and immune response, which lowers your resistance
to sickness and disease.
Also, when the joints don’t function properly, the muscles
that move them lose strength and flexibility, and that makes them more prone to
injury. This then can lead to
degeneration and arthritis.
When the brain, spinal cord, nerves, muscles and joints
aren’t working properly, exercise is more difficult and less effective. Running is slower, jumping and throwing are
shorter, lifting is weaker, and so on.
The list of impaired functions is huge!
Chiropractors are the only doctors trained and licensed to
analyze and correct spinal misalignment, called subluxation. Chiropractic adjustments align the spine,
remove nerve interference, and resotre optimum health and performance. This is why
all professional sports teams have a team chiropractor. In fact, a team of chiropractors travels with
the US Olympic Team.
